Wish it came in another color . . . September 8, 2010 Bridget Hindman I love my Kindle, and when I ordered it a year ago, I ordered this cover as well. I love the cover, don't get me wrong. I just wish that I had an option other than black. I would really like the new covers for the K3 that have a built in book light, however, they don't seem to fit the K2. I have seen some complaints about cracks in the Kindle from opening the back cover, and agree that that really shouldn't happen. I haven't had any issues with that. However, I am also careful with it and make sure that the Amazon logo is facing me before opening the cover. People have also thought that perhaps the cover opening while being transported in bags may cause this issue. I haven't had issues with that either, and I carry extremely large totes crammed with textbooks, notebooks, my laptop and my Kindle. My Kindle is still in pristine condition (and I've even dropped it a number of times, dropped my bag with all of that in it, found it underneath a pile of extremely heavy textbooks, slept on it, and accidentally put a cold glass on the cover). The only damage is scratches around the holes where the Kindle attaches to the cover, and that is from me being clumsy (there are also scratches around the ignition in my car from me missing it with the key).
It allows me to rest my Kindle 2 on a raised knee September 1, 2010 Marshall (Denver, CO, USA) In addition to what others say about it, I thought I would add that when you fold back the cover, the back surface is a rough suede and when sitting on the ground with my knees raised, there is enough friction to hold the kindle on my nearly vertical thigh without using my hands. It was a nice discovery on a hike this weekend. I can also do it in bed. The standard Kindle without cover is way too slick to do this. I just hope the cover I'm getting with my new Kindle 3 works as well.
AVOID, will crack your Kindle case September 1, 2010 B. Buzbee (Colorado Springs) This case is a nice one. Seems to be good quality, but a serious design flaw leads to cracked cases. The right side of the Kindle is not secured to the right side of the case. After a little while, the hooks on the case that insert in to the Kindle gradually bend upwards. Since they are inside the case, you cannot see them. They continue to apply upward force in to the plastic face until it gives way and cracks. I did not drop it, Kindle damaged by case in everyday use after 5 months. Not real happy with Amazon on this one.
Very Basic August 26, 2010 Olga Bezhanova (Edwardsville, IL) This Kindle cover is easy to install and use. However, for this price, it doesn't offer nearly as much as it should. It does protect my Kindle from scratches and dust, but the list of the things it doesn't do, is much longer than the list of what this cover does accomplish:
1. Not only doesn't it have a reading light, it also makes it very hard to attach and use the reading lights that I already have;
2. Unlike the covers for Kindle 1, it has no pocket, not even a tiny little one. In spite of that, it weighs a lot. It hardly makes a whole lot of sense to have a Kindle cover that weighs more than the Kindle itself but this is what you get with this cover.
3. The way it looks fails to make your Kindle look more attractive. Just the opposite, it detracts from the beauty of this amazingly sleek device. It feels like such a shame to have to hide a beautifully looking Kindle under this frumpy looking cover.
I'd say that it makes sense to buy this kind of cover for 10 bucks. Any price higher than that is hardly reasonable.
Great Cover August 11, 2010 Gina I've been using this for a year now, it is so durable.
And doesn't show wear or dirt at all.
