Product Description
We live in an age of deep ideological divides. Among them, abortion ranks as perhaps one of the most inflammatory debates of our day dividing churches, denominations, even households. Confounding the dilemma, the evangelical church seems to opt for one of two alternatives; either they maintain an uncomfortable silence on the subject, or else engage in the same style of inflammatory polemic as their opposition. The church today is in dire need of direct, yet compassionate teaching about abortion, revealing the whole counsel of God on the sacredness of human life, while providing rational answers to equip God s people for dialogue. In Abortion: An Evangelical Survey, Matthew Everhard has endeavored to make this crucial life issue attainable for pastors, students, and other laypersons alike. Beginning with a survey of the history of Christian teaching on abortion, this work 1) moves the reader through six essential biblical propositions that comprise an evangelical, pro-life position, 2) highlights an overarching cultural shift from absolute truth to subjective morality, and 3) includes rational answers to seven common justifications for abortion, while rallying the prayers and action of God s redeemed people.

5 out of 5 stars Abortion:The Evangelical Perspective   July 19, 2008

This is a very well written short read on a serious subject. All the ramifications of abortion are covered. I only wish it were a "must read" for all young people and their parents.
