Product Description
Over the past 25 years, San Francisco based veterinarian and behaviorist, Dr. Ian Dunbar has provided the leadership that has been key to the successful transformation of pet dog training training people to train their dogs from a hobby into a profession. This visionary, with his foresight and drive, has helped these independent and creative individuals, dog trainers, form their own highly regarded professional group, The Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT). Who better to comment on Dog Training: Past, Present and Future? In May of 2005 Dr. Dunbar gave a sold-out seminar to dog trainers discussing the profession; where it has been and where it is going. He reviewed dog training techniques of the distant past along with more recent trends and practices and discussed where he believes the profession is going. Dr. Dunbar s sometimes controversial comments noted that differences in training methods and philosophies should not be permission to be rude or unprofessional in disagreements among trainers. He advised the profession to continue to build upon scientific knowledge and presented a number of subjects that demand further research and study.
