Product Description Introducing the IS6110; a state-of-the-art DECT 6.0 cordless phone providing you crystal clear, interference free calls. Even better, it's designed to enable you to IM/IV from anywhere in the home. Pretty cool. It works as a standard cordless, but for those who have given up the landline; no worries. It works with your PC and broadband internet for IM/IV.
Amazon.com Product Description The Vtech IS6110 DECT 6.0 Digital Cordless Phone with Instant Messaging Capability is the first cordless phone to offer a QWERTY keyboard, along with IM and instant voice (peer-to-peer) features. It has an extra-large color LCD for easy viewing, making it easy to read and write IMs. The phone includes built-in service for AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), MSN, and Windows Live programs. Employing a click-to-talk system, you can send and receive IM voice chats with online buddies. To set up the phone, you simply connect it to a landline outlet and to a PC via the included USB cord. Using the phone for instant messaging applications frees the computer for other uses. The phone itself features DECT 6.0 technology for superior sound quality, security, and range. A Speakerphone is built into the handset for convenience, and the phone has memory for 50 phonebook entries. It supports caller ID and call waiting, and stores the last 50 calls. The phone has multiple ringtones and will record your own sound clips directly from a PC or any type of sound equipment.

We are glad that we decided to try it~You will be too! January 7, 2010 Suzy Homemaker (Beautiful Mid-Michigan) I purchased this as a Christmas present for my teenaged daughter. This is HER review:
I think its pretty easy to use, its quick, and helpful.
You can access AIM anywhere in & around your house.
The only thing I don't like about it, is when I am doing something, sometimes the AIM shuts down, or says the software is busy.
This is MY review: I like that it free's up our one computer for others to use. She can be on AIM, and we can still access the computer doing what we like. We can also make and receive phone calls even when she is using this! It doesn't tie up the phone line~ a pop up comes on the screen and lets her know that there is an incoming call. When no one is using it, it rings like a normal phone. Ringtones can be anything you like. Even record your own.
Set up was a bit stressful, but it was managable, just keep following the prompts and directions~even though it seems a bit redundant. The unit was ready to use in about 25 minutes from the time we took it out of the box. (We aren't too savy when it comes to technology, so I am sure others could do it faster.)
My family is glad that I bought it, since we no longer are all fighting for the computer, and best of all..... my teenager is actually glad she received it! At that age that is really something! :0)
Texting Capable land line! December 1, 2009 ibuy amazon (st louis, mo) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this on a whim for my home office. While it has nice texting capabilities, it does not produce the best sound quality for calls. I have used this with and without a headset. Don't bother using a headset with it, unless you have no qualms about hearing "huh" repeatedly! Terrible sound quality. Overpriced for the quality. Texting from land line is nice while I'm working on the computer for my corporation, but other than that, I would only purchase this for a cool gadget you can tell others "hey, look...this is a land line, it looks like a cell phone and you can actually text from it..." nice conversation piece, but other than that...save your money.
Vtech phone November 21, 2009 muttross generally the phone is good however getting it set up to access the internet is a bit difficult.
Needs to fix the texting part of the phone!!! November 15, 2009 LatinaSunRise (Manhattan, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The phone sounds great but as far as the texting is not good. I use MSN only but you have to download both MSN and AIM which I think for me is too much. My computer when I turn it on everything comes up on the start menu and it's annoying. I try to remove it from the start menu but no luck... So I don't text, which that suck!!!! The phone part is not bad, feels like a toy phone but it does sound clear and it saves your number's on to the phone which I kinda like. Makes it easy to dial. All and all it's okay. Just wish the texting would have worked for me!!!
not MSN futureproof!! April 3, 2009 Y.X.L. (Vancouver) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
yes, this product is fun, exciting, supports AOL/MSN... but it fails to support the updated MSN/Windows Live builds later than 8.5 (such as builds 12 or 14, which is the new MSN 9), nor does it support any other languages of MSN builds other than English/US.
i had to actually track down MSN 8.1 English/US (not English/India) to use this, which is no easy feat, as MSN/WL installer for 8.5 automatically updates to 14 (which is MSN 9), thus making this innovative product a useless, oversized cordless phone. I just emailed Vtech for workaround, but don't get your hopes up. it makes no sense for Vtech to have had forethought to support future updated versions of MSN/WL, as Microsoft tends to phase out older versions of MSN (remember Windows Messenger?) and renders them null. Cool product, but intrinsically and fundamentally flawed. As MSN is such an integral part to this product, i think it warrants only 1/5 stars for such failure until updated to support later MSN/WL versions.
