B Company

Welcome to the 222nd Army battalion, B-company. This is where the Army rakes together all the insubordinates, hellraisers and troublemakers that won’t fit in any other unit. When the Rangers and Deltas are too expensive to waste, these guys are the first ones in.

They’re called “Bad Company”; a mismatched bunch of rejects selected to serve their country as cannon fodder. This isn’t the kind of outfit a lot of soldiers would join voluntarily. Getting transferred to “the B” is a punishment and a way for the generals to put all their rotten eggs in one basket.

No one starts out in Bad Company. But for some, this is where they end up.

4 out of 5 stars Online Multiplayer Experience   July 23, 2009
S. George
0 out of 1 found this review helpful

These are my online experiences, after playing this game for the last 4 months: I like to use UMP or Uzi they have better killing rate than all the guns(except FS2000), use the tracer gun for more points, the only drawback is the lack of the medic kit bcuz I can't refresh my health once shot, unless I find a medic kit lying around. Once an attacker enemy team knows the location where the soldiers spawn, they are in control, no matter what you do, you'll lose. And I have a very strong suspicion, the game decides prior which team should win, and if u r on the losing team and going good, you become more sensitive to bullets and will die with just one or two bullet in you, while you just emptied the whole magazine and wasted time reloading. The game calculates the strength of the parties/team and decides the better side should win. If you are inside a bush and a leaf which is almost invisible in front of you, and you are going to mortar an enemy nearby, the mortar comes down on you. The best sniper gun is not the one which is more damaging M95, but the one with 10 bullets in a clip that goes in one fire(VSS or SVU). In gold rush mode I cud never go above rank 17, but I am able to stay within rank 28, which would be why you would need this edition to get the FS2000. I hate if they bring the whole building down as they say in BF 2142, that reduces the chance for a soldier to escape. I cud never control the chopper, control needs to be easy. I wish there was a heat sinking missile like UT, but tracer works fine for the time being. The NS2000 shotgun is the best it gets the work done in one shot, but u need to be closer to the enemy pointing right on his head, but to load the shell takes longer. You can't run and shoot and when you die sometimes it doesn't show in which direction u got shot from. Option to disable teamkills in the server would help. If you get shot a red dot appears but if you hide long enough it wud go away. Never use assault unless it is a FS2000. never use a jeep or a boat for long time attacks cuz it will explode in one NS2000 shell shot. If you wanna stay at a place for a long time drop 4 to 6 medic health with MG36 to stay alive after being shot. The five seconds out of the map boundary seems very less if you are in a vehicle. Lot of time my soldier gets stuck in between trees/wall and other objects and the place is not damaged by mortar. If there are two tanks, use the sniper mode laser designator to aim at one tank and shoot the unexpected other one, u can also use a neaby unsused vehicle, air or a mortar gun. You can also destroy a tank or kill some one with the tank/gun repair utility. Get more points by healing injured teammates visible as blue colored crossfire on your maps, and repairing tanks for your teammates. The best tank offensive is somebody using the tank and a medic using the firing gun and optionally repairing the tank damage and finishing enemies approaching unaware to the main gun user. A normal balanced 2 party game goes on for approximately 20 minutes, I hope it stays that way. The Uzi and UMP's are more silent and won't give you away. the MG36 is a better sniper rifle aim for the red dots after mortaring a building or an enemysite. The knife is more powerful than the guns, no reflex seen when you are shooting an enemy running towards you with a knife. There are no weapon loads at the attackers base, once you are done with your ammo, you search for a kit or you die and respawn. Wish it had a supply and medic/health drop request. The sniper VSS rifle, NS2000, Uzi, UMP, MG36 and FS2000 are good ones. Sometimes the screen goes blank and you are unsure where you are going to respawn. Also sometime the game gets stuck in between game and you have to restart your ps3. Also sometimes parts of your body, weapon sticks out on the other side of walls, giving out your hiding place. Once my attacker team advances to the next base and if I am left back on the mortar striker gun at the base, all vehicles disappear, I have to walk all the way to the next base. Hope these pointers will improve your skills, please don't teamkill, the other guys is as frustrated as you are. I like this game, I know I had been very critic, amateurs won't even find these as an issue while playing, hats up and waiting for a better version.

5 out of 5 stars Best online game I've ever played   April 11, 2009
Big Thinker (Texas USA)
As much as I like the COD series, I like this better. The online
game is the best!

But don't buy the gold edition. Waste of an extra $10 imo. You'll wind
up getting all the weapons anyway.

4 out of 5 stars I'm Hooked on Multiplayer   December 17, 2008
Shortbus (Florida)
I bought this game on a whim during a Gold Box special. I've never been a big fan of 1st person shooters or online gaming so I was skeptical about how much I would actually enjoy it. Needless to say my fears were unfounded because I have been hooked on this game since day 1. I can't really say much about the single player campaign because honestly the multiplayer is so fantastic that I haven't even made it past the opening scenes of the solo game. It took me awhile to get the hang of the controls mainly because as I said I don't really play these type of games often but once you have them figured out it is pretty intuitive IMO. The graphics are great and as others have said the sounds are among the best I've ever heard in a game (I especially love the AA guns and the Barrett M95 sniper rifle!).

Unfortunately the game does have a few issues. Sometimes (rarely) I get lag on the online games which makes them nearly unplayable. There also does not seem to be a way for the servers to even out the games so occasionally you will be playing a round and all of a sudden most of your team or the other team is gone. Usually this is straightened out within a round or two though as other players sign on. There are a few other issues that others have mentioned that are apparently lacking in this game but being new to online gaming they don't really bother me as much as they may others.

Overall I'd say this is a five star game if they could just fix those minor issues with the online play. In the meantime it gets four stars from me and a hope that either some updates or a sequel gets released soon. If you're looking for an all around great time waster though don't hesitate to pick this one up!

2 out of 5 stars Repeats the same game over and over.   November 2, 2008
Clasical Affectionado (Mid-Atlantic)

The use of items is learned mostly by trial and error. The game is weak at spots. The explosive capabilities are really incredible. The major flaw in the game is once played it keeps repeating the same game. The scenarios do not change. Recommendation is to rent the game until played through and move on to other games. Really unfortunate since this game has some real potential if some variety could be introduced.
