5 out of 5 stars Great Game   January 23, 2010

This is a very cool tennis game. On the beggining you'll think it's pretty hard, but the key is to press the button right on the moment that your opponent hits the ball back to you.

3 out of 5 stars Not up to the hype   August 20, 2009

This game is way better than the topspin 3 on the Xbox of PS3. Those games take away your ability to get a head start on where you think the ball is going to go.

With that said, this game lacks some options. You can create your own player....unless you want him/her to be left handed. Then you are SOL. The created character also doesn't have a choice between backhands. And you don't have one. Some matches my guy hits a one handed bakchand...sometimes two handed. Also he can't be black.

The game play is OK but the characters run fast even on the low level. You don't really know what kind of shot you are hitting. And the sensitivity of your aiming doesn't increase as you get closer to the net. So I would hit an approach shot and run towards the net. My character will always hit it into the middle of the court.

This game is OK when you aren't by a TV System. But on the DS it just is not there yet.

2 out of 5 stars Not a good tennis game   January 17, 2009

Having to make the player move to the ball is stupid. When you play tennis, you naturally move to the ball to hit it. This game requires one button for you to get to the ball and another to hit it when you're in the right spot. It's not intuitive like real tennis. The player should go to the ball automtically and the game should revolve around hitting the ball using various spins, depth etc. As it is, just getting the player to the ball is half 3/4 of the battle. NOT GOOD.

1 out of 5 stars Difficult game to play, let alone master   November 23, 2008

This game, Top Spin 3, was a great frustration because it is so difficult to get all the buttons pushed just so in order to actually play the game well, which I never did, and I spent hours trying. I felt like a total spaz playing this particular game, whereas in other games for the DS I am not a bad player, like Tiger Woods PGA tour 08 and Call of Duty 4. Top Spin 3 is not, as the product features state, "easy to pick up and play... no matter what skill level you are". I have had the game about 5 months and have not gotten any enjoyment out of the game, except when knocking down most of the "barrels" in one of the training exercises, and that was very little enjoyment indeed. Playing a match against the computer is a totally different story than knocking down some barrels. It is very difficult to actually get your player into the exact spot on the court in order to make consistently good forehands and backhands. I could never even break the CPU's serve. Also, I never liked the way the CPU player would come towards the net and taunt my guy after a winning shot was made. That got old really quick. Where's the good sportsmanship? I would not recommend Top Spin 3 to someone that might be overly challenged (like me) to keep pushing the control pad (and the other buttons) in just the exact way required to make good shots. If you might be expecting to somewhat master the controls for this game, you could be sorely disappointed, as I was.

3 out of 5 stars Pretty good   August 3, 2008

The graphic is not so good. It's too bad you can't get all the stars in training. The sound is pretty good and it's a fun game even though it might be hard to catch on to. The good thing is that you can continue to play even when you become number one...
