V-Tech phone.Model # GZ5838 This phone is awesome! It has many different ring tones and you can change the colors on the phone. I love it! We like to use the bark "tone" to mess with our dog, lol.... I think it is a lot more fun vs the boring old ringing phone! :)

I just got this phone after using a black vtech with changeable plates for about 3 years. My home office line is thru Vonage (VoIP), and these phones work great. That vtech was still going strong, but the 2.8ghz of that phone was interfering with some new electronics in the house - I had to unplug that ipod dock every time the phone rang. So I decided it was time to treat myself to a new office phone and started looking for a 5.8ghz vtech.
The vtech brand has always worked for me, and I go back to it time and again. The black vtech I just retired got dropped, stepped on, thrown down stairs. You name it, I abused it. and it still worked perfectly.
This was very similar but boasting some additions. Tons more ring tones(30 in all, before I had about 10), including one that I swear is a coldplay song. Then there is barking, roosters, tweeting, sirens, Christmas music & Mozart to name a few. I use them to set for certain people so even if I'm not near the phone, I know who's calling.
It has all the other needed features I wanted such as:
- has a headset jack for 2.5mm
- changeable plates to make it seem like you have a new phone now and then. The blue and pink are a little kiddie for my taste so I'm starting with the silver.
- can program numbers to a directory(only 20, I had wanted more to be honest, as my other phone had 20 and I was always running out of space). Also has speed dial, though it's not a feature I use.
- a belt clip hook on the back of the phone that is removable if you don't use it.
- caller I.D. & displays time/date which is always helpful.
- voicemail alert on the phone screen. On my other phone it also had a blinking light on the base for a message, and I do miss that. But I'm sure I'll stop looking for it eventually.
- loud ring that is adjustable. and really, all those ring tones are too much fun. I can now program my annoying neighbor as a barking dog so I know if he's calling and NOT get the phone.
Great phone and well worth the price(I got it for 24 bucks).

We NEEDED a new cordless phone as our others quit. I had a gift certificate for Amazon (a favorite shopspot), so when I came across this phone, I ordered it.
I can't wait for Halloween this year! Not only does it play a "Monster" tune, it also plays a Christmas one, bird, rooster, police, several ring types as well as classical music and rock, hip-hop- virtually enough ring tones to set for those specific callers with distinct personality and tastes in music. I could SWEAR the ringone "Green" is a Green Day song!
Easy to add people and numbers and has a clear orange lit info screen.
Sound quality is good. (charge station upstairs, but use the phone downstairs and outside.) So far, so great!

This is the 2nd Vtech Polyphonic ring tone phone that I have lost. The first had changeable face plates. This one might be aesthetically pleasing, but became DOA after a year of use. Attempts to get through to Vtech's customer support line are futile. This phone might have some "cute" ringtones, but it will die on you. I guar on tee!

This phone is sleek looking and works just like any other well built wireless phone. I like the fact that the base and handset can be customized in three different colors. In addition, the handset has a plethora of ringers to choose from aside from the norm.
