It is hard to really imagine it when it really comes to Greatest Hits records these past few years in the industry. Unfortunately, people always want more but never recieve it. From the music of Elton John however, it should be considered as a message from above. Still, many people don't seem to remember that out of Elton with poor Greatest Hits records, but with a definitive voice.

When Universal released the Elton John Greatest Hits 1970-2002, the U.S. version seemed as if it was a joke, largely because there were just too many good songs that were overlooked. Ironically, that went exactly the same for the import from Britain. The British version had a little difference in its lineup with songs like Kiss The Bride, Blue Eyes and Elton John's 1978 Insturmental Song For Guy. Still, the record doesn't have a few songs the U.S. version has like Blessed and Little Jeannie. Still, there are so many good songs on the take including Believe, Sad Songs (Say So Much), and Your Song. Speaking of the collection, it happens to be the Bonus CD that makes this collection a little bit better, with three of the songs that were on a special Bonus CD that was issued on the U.S. version. Sadly, that Bonus CD was pulled. This one does have a lot more to play around with with three of the songs from the U.S. bonus CD, Your Song, Live Like Horses, and Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me (with George Michael). The only song that wasn't included in this Bonus CD was Elton's live performance of Candle In The Wind in 1987.

However, there are 11 songs added to this mix including some that were really overlooked on the U.S. version including True Love, his duet with Kiki Dee from no longer issued Duets record, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, his cover of The Beatles hit, I Don't Wanna Go On With You Like That, not released on the U.K. version of this collection, but as a bonus, as well as classics like Border Song, and his cover of The Who's Pinball Wizard, which he performed in the movie, Tommy. There are also a couple of new editions to this collection, including a remake of Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word (with Blue), and Are You Ready For Love, and unreleased song from 1979. The song recently took off here on the Billboard charts, but only as a single.

Although many songs are still missing from this collection from the 90's and above, with songs like The Last Song, Simple Life, and Empty Garden, the collection is a far improvement from the issusing of it last year, there is no doubt about Elton John. His music as his legacy will be Forever.
