Amazon.com Product Description
All of your favorite mutants are back, and thanks to X-Men: The Official Game, you get to not only stand in their shoes (at least those of them who have shoes, that is), but you get to wield their powers as well. The Official Game game is set right before the events that occur in X-Men 3: The Last Stand and chronicles the events leading up to the film. With three X-Men to control, tons of fast-paced action, a cinematic-quality presentation of the gameplay and more, X-Men: The Official Game truly captures the big-screen excitement and grandeur of the movie.

As a player, you will be able to control Wolverine, Iceman, and Nightcrawler throughout the game, evolving and upgrading the special mutant powers and abilities of each of them over time, becoming faster, stronger and more agile as you progress with the Mutant Evolution System. Use your lethal admantium claws and crushing brute force as Wolverine; scale walls and swing from rafters as Nightcrawler; and race down ice slides at break-neck speed as Iceman. Regardless of who you are, you'll battle enemies from both the feature films and the comics, such as the Brotherhood of Mutants and more. Other X-Men characters, including Professor X, Cyclops, and Storm, also join forces with you during multiple types of gameplay.

The script for the game was written by movie screenwriter Zek Penn and comic writer Chris Claremont. X-Men: The Official Game actually provides a key part of the overarching movie plot, with an ending that actually sets you up for the beginning of the film. Some of the movie cast return to their roles, including Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman. If you love the movies, or if you just love beautiful graphics and gripping action, you'll undoubtedly want to check out X-Men: The Official Game.

2 out of 5 stars Don't waste your $40   June 8, 2006

I bought this game after seeing X3 mainly because I was curious as to what happened to Kurt in the third movie. Well, I did learn what happened to him, but wasted $40 doing it. The graphics are terrible--like anime cartoons from the 80s, only worse (in that the movement/speaking is just lacking). My boyfriend and I beat this game in 3 days, with less than 20 hours of total gameplay. I might like it more if I could play ONLY as Nightcrawler, and not have to switch characters, since he has the best moves IMO, but that's not the case. I did enjoy it while I played it, which is why I gave it 3 stars for fun. But it was over way too quickly, and I feel it was a waste of money, so it gets 2 stars overall.

1 out of 5 stars This game STINKS!   June 1, 2006

Boy, I'm glad I didn't buy it. I played it at a friends house and that is all I needed. This is probably one of the worst games I've ever played. You can only be Wolverine, Nightcrawler, which are the best characters, and then there is Iceman(?). The gameplay is messed up, the controls are messed up, and just the whole game in general sucks! Don't waste your money on this horrible game like my poor friend did. Get X-Men Legends 2 instead.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing follow-up to Rise of Apocalypse   May 22, 2006

The game is boring and somewhat difficult to navigate. The characters don't even move their lips when they talk (how 15 years ago is that?),there are really no items to collect along the way, and the missions seem kind of pointless. It is by no means as engaging as Rise of Apocalypse, the story is kind of stupid too. The characters don't have that many powers, and there are very few features to the game. I LOVE X-MEN in general, movies, comics, the whole bit, and I hope they come up with another game in the near future that is way better than this one.
I don't get how this could have happened, the game was made by the same company that made the X-men 2.
Now if the movie sucks too, I'll have wasted the past 6 months waiting for both the game and the movie. Oh well.
